Warm welcome!
My caregiving journey started when my father fell and broke his hip. I thought my dad would receive the care he needed without me hovering. "Hey," I told myself, "he has great doctors, he can ask for what he needs, and the care facility was recommended by the hospital." Wow! I had no idea that I was about to dive into the deep, deep end of an abyss. Each day was a new battle to get my father the help that he required. I had to reinvent the wheel, over and over, because the information that I needed was not easily found. I was unable to locate a comprehensive site that could point me in any direction. I faced so many roadblocks and frustrations trying to navigate a broken, elderly caregiving system.
I decided to start this blog to provide information to caregivers. Information that I wish someone had told me. You do not have to be a full-time caregiver to look for answers on this site. I hope that I can help you avoid some of the same obstacles.
I am not a doctor, lawyer, mental health professional, or professional caregiver. I am just a daughter who wanted to provide comfort and care to my father.
This site will provide information on a variety of topics. Don't reinvent the wheel. Join me in picking up some hints and tips on what I learned about the caregiving world.
